Credit Points

 

CPs

 

All doctoral students of the IRTG2403 will acquire credit points (CP) aligned with the standards of the European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) for participation in activities and events.

 

1 CP is equivalent of 25 working-hours and includes active participation, preparation, and phases of self-study.

 

It is mandatory for each student* to acquire 20 credit points (CP) during the three years of the graduate programme:

 

 Mandatory elements are:

 

  • Lectures, seminars & colloquia  

(7 CP) 

  • Practical courses & workshops

(3 CP) 

  • Soft skill courses        

(3 CP)

  • Conferences & retreats 

(3 CP)

  • Outreach activities **                      

(2 CP)

  • At least 2 months stay in Duke**

How to obtain CPs?

Lectures, seminars & colloquia       12 Talks = 1 CP
Practical courses & workshops    1 day = 0.5 CP
Conferences, retreats  1 day = 0.5 CP
   Poster / Talk = each 0.5 CP
Soft skill courses       1 day = 0.5 CP
Outreach activities***       1 day = 0.5 CP
Research stay      1 month = 1 CP

Internal lab meetings don’t count.

 

* Associated students of the IRTG2403 will also need to acquire 20 credit points but are exempt from a research stay in another lab.

** Outreach activities and are not mandatory for students from FOR2841 and these 2 CP can be compensated by the other mandatory elements.

*** Outreach activities include ‘Lange Nacht der Wissenschaft‘, school & science projects, science cafés. Preparation time included.
